On our adventures we always teach “working the location”. That means looking for the compositions that are all around you. Look close. Look far. Look behind you! Many times, these photos are not the images you expected to make but are compelling nevertheless.
The nearest ocean is over 400 miles away but many visitors and local families come out there to picnic on the sand and slide down the dunes on plastic discs made for snow. It’s the closest thing they have to a beach and the vibe there is just like it! Here a couple of guys in board shorts watch an overwhelming sunset develop.
