On our Death Valley IMAGE-Adventures, in addition to the great landscape photo opportunities, we also conduct a one day Workshop on night photography. Yes, November isn’t primetime for the milky way but the concepts are exactly the same and it’s always a fun learning experience. And why not take advantage of the incredible night sky there?
In this image, a sliver of a setting moon was enough to illuminate the Tim Burton-like foreground. It was the night after Halloween, after all! Together with the late season Milky Way which still had enough structure to be interesting along with the last vestiges of daylight on the horizon and a bit of warm colored light pollution from the distant Owens Valley, it made for an interesting image.
