Silent Forest

Sometimes during a snowfall, everything gets so quiet you can hear your own heart beat.

Before the Storm

Red sky in the morning, sailor’s warning. Sure. I was 500 miles from any ocean but it was still a sign of the big storm to come. Nevertheless, it was good to be out that particular morning!

Arctic Nap

On the edge of the Arctic Ocean, Polar Bears wait for the the sea to freeze. Out on the polar ice pack is where they can hunt seals, their main source of food. Until then this cub is content to take a nap while its mother stays vigilant for males who might pose a threat.

Lilies

Often photographed, this is a pretty little ravine that leads to a beach along the rugged California coast. These non-native Calla Lilies obviously find the spot quite hospitable.

Complexity

Where do you look? Ravines inside of ravines inside side canyons inside a larger canyon. Layer upon layer of geology representing over a billion years of Earth history. From pinion forests to Sonoran desert. And then there is the river, even now, still slowly changing the canyon. Wherever you look the view is grand!
